Galway, passed away surrounded by her family on December 8th, 2025, after a short illness, in the care of The Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore Predeceased by her parents Pat and Theresa. Rose will be sadly missed by her loving family; husband John Joe, daughters Mary (Cleary), Rosaleen and Melissa, son-in-law Cuimin, Rosaleen’s partner John, her beloved grandchildren; Jack, Mariesa, Dervela and Evan, her great-granddaughter Fiadh, brother Oliver, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends May her kind & gentle soul Rest In Peace. The death has occurred of George Kent, late of Ballinree, Crinkle and Birr Community Nursing Unit, December 6th, 2025. Predeceased by his beloved wife Jackie. David Larkin

David Larkin, Lougheen, Carrig, Birr, Co. Tipperary, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on the 6th of December 2025. Predeceased by his father Bernie, brothers, Raymond and Derek. David will be sadly missed by his mother Carmel, brothers, Gary, Bernard, Jason, Stephen, Damien, sisters, Caroline and Lisa, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, neighbours, friends and especially all his friends from Portlaoise.

Reposing on Monday at his family home (R42R260) from 5 pm to 8pm. Removal on Tuesday morning to The Church of the Annunciation, Carrig arriving at 10:45 a.m for funeral mass at 11 am followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. David’s family would like to thank the staff at Portlaoise, Beaumont and Tullamore who showed great kindness to David throughout the year.

Bridget (Dilly) Martin nee Barron Lacka, Carrig, Birr, Co.Offaly (R42TN93) died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on the 3rd of December 2025. Predeceased by her husband Stephen (Steve). Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her son Rodge, daughters Kathleen, Carmel and Tricia, sons in law, daughter in law, sisters Pat and Annie, brother Patrick, brothers in law, sisters in law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace. Reposing on Friday at her residence (R42TN93) from 2.30 o’clock until 5 o’clock. Private removal on Saturday to The Church of the Annunciation, Carrig for funeral mass at 12 o’clock followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations if desired in lieu of flowers to the Friends of Tullamore Hospital. Predeceased by her beloved parents Patjoe and Patsy. She will be sadly missed by her husband Jimmy, daughter Margaret and her partner Rebecca, her nephew Ryan, brother Michael, uncles, cousins, relatives and many friends and neighbours. May she Rest In Peace. Reposing at her home (R42 PC83) on Wednesday from 4pm. – 7pm. Removal on Thursday morning to arrive at St. Brendan’s Church, Birr at 10.45am. for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in Clonoghill Cemetery.

Ita Haines

The death has occurred of Ita Haines (née Kirwan), Green Street, Birr, Co. Offaly. (Formerly Clongowney, Banagher, Co, Offaly).
Ita passed away peacefully surrounded with love by her heartbroken family in the wonderful care of staff at The Brosna Ward, The Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore and previously under the care of St. Anne’s Ward, St. Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin.
Predeceased by her parents Paddy and Clare Kirwan. Dearly loved wife of Ray, cherished mother of daughter Leah and son Robert. Ita will be forever loved and sadly missed by her husband, daughter, son, brother James , sister Mary and extended Kirwan and Haines families, dear friends, neighbours and colleagues.
May Ita Rest In Peace.
Ita will repose at Boyd’s Funeral Home, Birr (R42YF75) on Saturday 22nd November from 4pm – 6pm. Removal on Sunday to arrive at St. Brendan’s Church, Birr for Funeral Mass at 12 noon followed by burial at Clonoghill Cemetery, Birr.

Bridget (Vera) RAFFERTY (née Barry)

Bridget (Vera) Rafferty,(née Barry) Ballyloughan, Cloghan, Offaly. Bridget, who was fondly known as Vera, died on November 18th 2025, unexpectedly but peacefully in the excellent care of the nurses and staff of the Laurel Suite at Birr Community Nursing Unit. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Richard (Dickie) and brothers and sisters. Vera will be deeply regretted by her loving son Barry, daughter-in-law Gráinne, grandchildren, Sénan, Dáire and Fíadh, sister Nuala, brother Patrick, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and a wide circle of friends. Grant Vera Eternal Rest and Peace Vera will repose at Grennan’s Funeral Home, Ferbane (R42 HW25) on Friday (Nov. 21st) from 5pm to 7pm.(Additional parking available in the adjoining Church grounds) Removal on Saturday morning (Nov. 22nd) to St. Mary’s Church, Cloghan, where her Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11am, and may be viewed on http://www.cloghanbanagherparish.ie, and afterwards Vera will be laid to rest in St. Rynagh’s Cemetery, Banagher.
